Estelle McDoniel, author of the books listed wrote her first book in 2003. That book was the biography of Alene Duerk, first woman to reach an Admiral's rank in the US Navy. Alene served in hospitals around the world and also on the hospital ship, the
USS Benevolence. In Japan, she and the other medical staff provided medical care to the American soldiers who were just released from POW camps as the peace treaty was being signed on the USS Missouri.
One page listed as "Alene" has several images of Alene.
